The author and his backgrounds:
Rob Hendriks born at Groningen, the Netherlands on the 25th of May 1947, married with Frances and father of Iris and Eelco. The birth of his daughter (1975) was the motivation to buy his first reflex camera. Soon the feeling showed up to cut the production of family pictures and to try to create ‘real’ photographs, based on the idea that you can better show a few pictures with imaginative power than
a lot of albums no one is really interested in. Lately in 2002 the digital technique came in his live. It skipped immediately the bunch of film material you had to take with you on travelling through countries with not so much opportunities to get easily the right material. Very comfortable.
When you still have jour job to do, you are dependent from your holidays and short trips for your creative moments. That means family figuring on your pictures and for all; landscapes as the main subject. Not that other people are deliberated excluded from picture taking, but in a lot of countries it can cause troubles or it leads to typical tourist pictures, and where you have to pay for in a lot of cases (Peru for example).
After selling his company there came more time for his hobby and even expositions came in the picture. The focusing on landscapes
and structures are the most important themes, and also his old love for black and white pictures is back. It’s not amazing that also his love for the south of France leads to a regular attention in his photo work.
Apart from France there are also a lot of pictures taken in Holland and the various travels outside Europe. The fascination for South America is very clear in this case. But Canada, where family live, also.
